Murrow<\/a> asked Americans from all walks of life &#8212; including former U.S. presidents, captains of industry, taxi drivers, actors and homemakers &#8212; to write brief essays about their most fundamental and closely held beliefs. The series, <em>This I Believe<\/em>, was an extraordinary success. Eleanor Roosevelt, Presidents Harry Truman and Herbert Hoover, Helen Keller, Jackie Robinson, and Albert Einstein were just a few of the hundreds who participated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seit einiger Zeit gibt es eine <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=4538138\">Neuauflage dieser Reihe<\/a> bei NPR. Jede Woche gibt es einen neuen Essay als Podcast: Say what you think is really important\/believe\/stand for, alles in 500 W\u00f6rtern. Das ist eine wesentliche interessantere Textsorte als unsere unnat\u00fcrlich-abit\u00fcrlichen <em>comments<\/em>. Ich erw\u00e4hne das heute, weil in der aktuellen Folge der Aufsatz eines vierzehnj\u00e4hrigen Sch\u00fclers drankommt und beil\u00e4ufig erw\u00e4hnt wird, dass wohl in den USA viele Lehrer das Angebot, einen Essay einzureichen, als Aufgabe an ihre Sch\u00fcler weitergereicht haben. (\u00c4hm, war mir nat\u00fcrlich auch schon gekommen, der Gedanke. Great minds think alike, nicht wahr.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Auf der NPR-Seite oben kann man im Archiv die 15.000 eingereichten Essays durchsuchen, nach Themen oder Suchbegriffen.
