Do you remember Anja’s and Fiona’s tour of Scotland? Well, Anja writes a letter home. She tells her mum or dad about the tour. Write about something that she did on the trip, and about something nice and about something unpleasant (=not nice) that happened in a youth hostel. (Don’t use the same story as in the the book.)
Write good sentences, use connecting words such as although, however, because, while.
Dear Mum,
Our trip to Scotland was great fun. Fiona and me went to a youth hostel near Loch Ness. We enjoyed ourselves very much, because there were many nice people from other countries, too. WhileDuring/on our trip to Loch Ness some of the boys were very impolite. They pushed the girls and so one of us, a girl called (Name geändert), fell in the lake. Now she has got a very bad cold. But it was very nice, too, although that happened. We made a huge bonfire near the water and ate Mmarshmallows. A warden played the guitar and we all sang songs like „Auld Lang Syne“ or „Streets of London“. However, I’m happy that I’ll come home in three days. Then I’ll tell you more about our trip to Loch Ness.
Love,
Anja
Dear Mum,
The countryside is very beautiful here. We are on a walking tour in Scotland. We’ve walked every day for a long time, although it has rained all day and night. We slept in a tent because in the Highlands there are small towns without youth hostels. One night we woke up and a little green frog sat on my leg. It was not funny, I think. But Fiona laughed the whole time. But now we are in a youth hostel. The wardens are OK. But yesterday a strange thing happened. While Anja and I were walking through the woods somebody had stolen Fiona’s money. Fiona wanted to buy a coke. Bbecause of this she looked for her money. But it wasn’t there. We went quickly to the wardens but they didn’t think somebody hashad (nicht als Fehler gewertet, da indirekte Rede/backshift noch nicht bekannt) stolen it. We were very angry and so we went to the nearest police station. The police officer came with us and told us that this had happened already twice twice already. He looked in every room for the money for the money in every room and he found it in a man’s room. So the man had to go to the police station. Although I think it was and will be a wonderful time, I miss you! Give daddy Daddy a kiss from me!
Love,
Anja
Dear Mum and Dad,
I’m writing from a youth hostel. On the first day we cycled twenty kilometres to Loch Ness. When we were standing on the border of Loch Ness, a strange bird cried and I fell into the water, I still wore all my clothes. When I got out of the water, I was very cold, although the whether weather was really warm. When we went to the youth hostel next to the lake, I wanted to give the wardens my membership card, but while I was looking for it, my friend George said: „Perhaps you’ve lost it in the lake.“ „Oh, no! That could not can’t be true!“ I said. But the wardens there were very nice. They asked me, if I wanted (nicht als Fehler gewertet, da indirekte Rede/backshift noch nicht bekannt) to have a temporary card.“Yes,“ I said. „that’s very nice!“ „You can send a letter to the YHA and tell them your story. I’m sure, they’ll give you a new membership card.“
I was very lucky of happy about that and first I took off all my wet clothes and put on new ones. The rest of the tour has been very good. All the wardens accepted my temporary card. See you in two days.
Love,
